Juries and Awards

In the main competition, films compete for the International Human Rights Film Award Nuremberg, worth EUR 2,500. This award for outstanding filmic achievement in a human rights film will be awarded by an international jury.

A jury of students will chose the winner of the Open Eyes Youth Jury Award. They select the film best suited for human rights education in schools.

Finally, all films in the festival compete for our Audience Award, worth EUR 1,000.

The International Nuremberg Human Rights Film Award goes to a film in the International Competition. NIHRFF wants to contribute to the promotion of films which combine quality of form with humane thought and social commitment, independently of the scale of production and its public reception. The International Human Rights Film Award of Euro 2,500, along with its symbolic value, should contribute to the further making of such films.
